Is Banner Advertising a familiar term to you? Chances are it is. No doubt you have already heard or seen it due to the numerous sites and Guru’s that promote them. In practical terms, so many sites have banner ads; there must be some benefits to banner advertising. It follows that all those websites wouldn’t use banner ads to get visitors and potential customers to their site if those ads didn’t work.
Of course there are many ways to advertise your site and to get people to visit, so the question may arise as to the benefits of banner advertising versus another form of advertising. Among the current optimization trend is using text instead of banners i.e. Pay-per-click adverts, while others would create articles that contain their page URL in the resource box.
Before deciding which to use in your business ask yourself: Is price your only concern? How certain is it that paying more for ads will secure more visitors? The main benefit of banner advertising is that it’s inexpensive, whether you select pay per click or flat rate payment. Through pay per click you only have to shell out a portion of a penny for every hit whereas in flat rate, rate usually ranges from $5-$10 a month for your banner to spread over different sites. That by the way is called ‘paying for Media advertising’.
With banners you pay every time someone clicks on the banner. These are shown on the Content Network as opposed to Pay per click which is shown on Google’s search results page. This means that PPC is way more expensive than banners. Well thought out banners however, with good graphics and a compelling headline can get potentially thousands of visitors every month so this is one of the obvious benefits of banner advertising over other forms.
Getting your target audience is considerably easier with banner advertising. Articles and links displayed on hosting sites have a more long term probability of attracting your target group. But with banner ads, you can choose the types of sites on which they’ll appear and it can happen within hours of starting your campaign.
Not only that, with more targeted visitors that come to your site, you are more likely to see them becoming your customers. If you’ve pushed the visitor ‘buttons’ they will be more responsive to whip out the credit card.
This is a fantastic subject which has the possibilities of making you some decent money without breaking the bank first.

I’m sure you’ve noticed over the past few weeks there’s been lots of promotions about Cost Per Action, and believe me Cost Per Action or CPA as it’s affectionately known can be truly amazing…if you know how to do it.

Turning Web Traffic Into Buyers
When you have a shiny new web site you can be forgiven for continually checking your stats for traffic. After all the hard work we want to feel good when we see the visitor numbers. But all too soon the happy face disappears and is replaced by a frown. Then the nagging questions start and eventually realization finally hits you, ‘BAM’…. right between the eyes!
You’ve got visitors but no customers, and WOW that hurts
OK, less of the self pity. You’ve got to start thinking…like a customer.
“Right, I’m on the site and I want to find out more because I’ve read an article and I’m really interested in teaching my parrot how to tap dance, wear shades and sing like Elvis”. (Don’t dwell on this folks, it ain’t real)
Now you’ve got the visitor you need to do some soul searching and see it from their side, so here are a few pointers:
1. Are they presented with clean styles, compatible colors and lots of space?
2. Are your graphics meaningful or have you got more flashing lights than a funfair?
3. Can they navigate around the site with ease and come back to the home page?
4. Does your sales pitch lead them through a ‘story’ and then take them seamlessly to a Buy button?
5. Can they contact you if they have questions?
6. Does your pricing make sense?
7. Is there a refund policy to make them feel comfortable?
These points are not meant to be definitive but merely to make you think and look at your site from a different perspective. Consider this: ‘How many times have you walked into a store and after a quick look round, walked out again because it didn’t appeal?’ I’ll bet you can relate to that one.
Make it easy, think outside the box, take your time, make it right and you’ll get there.
